The Gift of Reciprocity in Life and Business by De Harris, WOW Founder

It came upon me recently to share with you the word ‘Reciprocity’ and its true meaning and what it can mean to you in improving your life and business. The underlying Rule of Reciprocity requires an individual to pay back or return what another individual has given them – whether it is a physical gift or a service. Most people believe in giving back when people give to you. The power held within this real is that the person providing the benefit is ensured of a future benefit from the other individual in return. In order to take, you must be willing to give back. This action is defined as ‘Reciprocation’ since you are essentially returning the favor or action of another person has provided you. Reciprocation is a powerful action which provides for the development of trusting personal and business relationships. By reciprocating,  you are essentially ‘paying them back’ for a service or gift that they have provided you with as you continue the cycle of trust. This is necessary in any relationship for it allows you to have a deeper connection and is beneficial for you both.  This also builds confidence within the relationship because you can rely on the other person to return the favor knowing that your actions are not being taken for granted but also keeping in mind that it does take time to build that level of trusting reciprocity. Though receiving is not the focus when ‘giving’ , it is a measurement of the future doom of  lopsided relationships. You must put your trust in that your actions will be reciprocated. It may not be from who you gave to but you will find through giving that you will never be without when you allow reciprocity to work within your life and business. It is not only fun to give but giving also provides the basis of trust while strengthening the bond  you have with others.

The Gift of Reciprocity_gameplan_for_successBe aware of occasions when one person in the relationship ends up giving on a larger scale or with more frequency then  what is returned within the relationship since this can cause tension as the other person may feel as if they have been short sided, slighted or simply ripped off. Relationships should be mutually beneficial, so it is important to avoid this type of situation at all costs since this negatively affects the relationship and future reciprocal actions.  Not everyone has the same resources or inclinations when it comes to what they can actually give in return. Therefore, it is best to discuss should the situation arise. By doing so and deciding what each has to offer one another, you can come to a win-win solution. If you find that the law of reciprocity is not upheld by the recipient, this can serve as a deal-breaker for future encounters. Yes, there are users and leaches in this world. Stay open so you can honestly communicate and continue to positively influence the amount of trust and growth within the relationship. The point is to do what is necessary to cultivate stronger and mutually beneficial relationships over time.

As business women it is important to always uphold the Rule of Reciprocity and regard the law with much respect. Trusting relationships are important for building long lasting-relationships and can have either a positive or negative effect on your career depending whether you choose to partake in the action of reciprocity or not. Be the one who always takes the lead in doing right instead of focusing on being right. When you do, you will find that the action of reciprocity always works in your favor. The good generated are the building blocks that allow for mutually satisfying relationships that form a great foundation in your life and business. Reciprocity is the highest form of humanity. Take a leap for you will gain the most in the end. Remember, a happy life equals a happy business!

It’s Time To Get Moving! Overcoming Exercise Excuses by Gena Livings

It’s Time To Get Moving! Overcoming Exercise Excuses by Gena Livings

You’ve told yourself dozens of times that tomorrow you are going to start exercising. Yet, tomorrow has come and gone, and you still haven’t starting moving. So, what’s holding you back? What excuse seems fitting today? It’s time to face your excuses head-on so that you can overcome them and choose to live a healthier lifestyle. Here are two common excuses for skipping exercise along with ways to combat them. I’m Too Fat (or out-of-shape): Unless your physician has forbidden exercise, then it’s very unlikely that this excuse has any validity. If you are extremely out-of-shape, then you simply need to start with baby steps. Walking is always a great place to start. You may have to start with just five minutes. That’s okay. You can gradually add more time each week. If walking is not an option, then you could try some pool exercises. At the very least, you can start by getting active while sitting. There are many beneficial strength training exercises you can do while sitting.

I Don’t Have Any Exercise Equipment: Nice try, but it doesn’t require special equipment to get your heart pumping. Don’t underestimate what you can do with things that are already in your house. For example, if you have a flight of stairs in your house then you’ve got an awesome way to get your heart rate up with through walking or running the stairs. Grab soup cans or milk jugs filled >with sand to immolate dumbbells for strength training exercises. Try push-ups and tricep dips and you’ll quickly realize how hard your body has to work when just using it’s own weight.

When you find yourself making an excuse not to exercise, read through some of the above tips again. And, remind yourself of all the many benefits of working out: lower body fat, decreased risk of many diseases, reduced instances of depression, improved bone density, reduced risk of injuries and many more.

Money Monday’s Investment Tip:

wow_kimyon_zariThere is a wide range of choices to investing. When choosing your investments, you want to weigh your desire for potentially higher investment returns against your willingness to accept higher market risks. Long-term investors have time on their side to ride out market declines and can afford to take more risks. This is not true for investors who need to use their money in the short-term.

Over time, be sure to adjust your investments to suit your current situation and make sure that your investment objectives fit your strategy remembering all investments even ones that are considered safe have risks of their own. ~Bonnie Gortlerhttp://www.bgjourneytowealth.com/ ——

Make Every Day Your New Year by De Harris, WOW Founder

Make Every Day Your New Year by De Harris, WOW Founder

I think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the year’s.  ~Henry Moore

WOW! We’re just a few days into 2014 and already you can sense the energy & anticipation in the air. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been asked about my resolutions for the new year. My answer is, as it has been for many years now… NONE!  Not to say that my life is as it should be but I can say it’s pretty darn close. 😉 Long ago, like Henry Moore, I too decided to make everyday my New Year!

Don’t get me wrong, I have specific goals and objectives outlined for the new year. Tasks that I would like incorporate for the coming year. I must, however share a shift in thought that occurred several years ago when I noticed those around me would get caught up in the season focusing on ‘events and occasions’ instead of living their daily life at a standard that embodied the very ideals, character, and values that the holiday season was meant to represent. Ideals such as… good will, charity, kindness, reverence, etc. It was as if because of the holiday you suddenly were given permission to slow down and become nicer to one another under the guise of the season. I often wondered if the world thought the end of the year was the only time to make this type of behavior a priority. I should hope not! It is sad is to see it done each year in full rerun mode. Now what if these same individuals would ‘give’ themselves that same ‘permission’ everyday? Not just when the end of the year comes but each and every day. You can’t help but IMAGINE (as John Lennon stated so well) how much of a better place this world would be if everyone would approach each day as a new beginning and engage in kindness like they do so easily during the holiday season. What if everyone would commit to act upon a daily resolution of kindness, charity and goodwill? What if each of us revamped our  current resolutions for the New Year and made them into LIFE resolutions instead?

mynewyearsresolutionIt is well documented that almost one-third of people who create New Year resolutions break them before the end of January and more than 75% will do so within 3 months. With such numbers it is well worth contemplating daily resolutions that encompass a value based and integrity centered approach to life as opposed to just focusing on these values once a year. When you make the decision to incorporate daily  so you suddenly wake up each day with a clear understanding that you are to achieve the only the best from yourself for just today. As you approach your daily activities the pressure soon lifts and freedom is achieved while you work toward meeting your long-term goals. There is a big difference between having a shopping list of a year-long of ‘to do’s’ versus having clear goals broken into bits & pieces that you can strive to attain on a daily basis. Smaller goals turn into to the larger goals making each day count as your new beginning. In turn you will enjoy life more because you have honored yourself as a person who lives life as opposed to a person who simply does what’s on the ‘to do’ list. The reason why so many people fail in attaining their resolutions, goals and aspirations is because the concept of internal change is just too big.

Take note and remember that the mountains which may have inspired you to create resolutions will disappear once you focus on what being your best YOU means in your daily life. The world just works better when you embrace living a value based and integrity centered existence  Little actions add up over time, so remember to enjoy each day to the fullest because held within each moment are grand opportunities for you to become better than you were yesterday! Join me in making only daily resolutions and watch the transformation.

To your continued health, wealth & success.  ~ De HarrisWOW Network President/Founder
